Multi-Agency Aid Operation Supports Flood-Affected Families in Pantu

PANTU – A coordinated humanitarian aid initiative involving several government agencies was carried out in Pantu to support residents affected by recent flooding, with relief distributed to hundreds of households across multiple villages.

The one-day operation focused on ensuring essential supplies reached vulnerable families, including children, the elderly and residents temporarily displaced from their homes.

The initiative was led by the Pantu District Office, working closely with welfare and emergency agencies to ensure aid was delivered efficiently and safely.

According to officials involved in the operation, the relief mission was organised through a structured deployment of three separate teams, each assigned to different routes and villages.

This approach allowed aid workers to cover a wide area within a limited timeframe, while ensuring that no affected locations were overlooked.

Team A, supported by transport assets from KAD, arrived at a local distribution point at around 10 am before moving on to several villages, including Panjai and Genturung Pendieng.

The team provided assistance to 11 longhouses and surrounding communities in areas such as Empaling, Keranggas, Muding, Tuba, Tabong Baru, Ipoh Ili and Ragai Baru. In total, 495 residents were recorded as having received assistance through this phase of the operation.

Meanwhile, Team B, comprising personnel from the Civil Defence Force (APM) and the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), began their mission earlier in the morning.

After collecting supplies at a designated trading centre at 9.30 am, the team proceeded to affected locations including Tuba, Ipoh and Jaong Jaya.

Their efforts benefited an estimated 400 residents, many of whom had faced difficulties accessing food and daily necessities due to flood conditions.

A third deployment, Team C, brought together officers from PDRM, Fire and Rescue Department (BOMBA) and the Social Welfare Department (JKM).

Supplies were collected at Norjahan General Trading before being distributed to communities in Tabong, Menangkin Ili, Semawa Ili, Sapak Bubong and Muding. This team assisted 297 households, including families whose homes were partially inundated.

Overall, the relief effort involved 47 personnel drawn from various agencies, including PDRM, JKM, KAD, UKPS, PDP, BOMBA and APM.

Their combined presence ensured logistical support, security, welfare assessment and emergency readiness throughout the operation.

Local authorities emphasised that the mission was not limited to the distribution of supplies alone. Data collection was also carried out to assess ongoing needs and to support future assistance planning should flood conditions persist.

The Pantu District Office expressed appreciation to all participating agencies, community leaders and volunteers for their cooperation and swift response. Officials noted that such inter-agency collaboration remains crucial in safeguarding rural communities during periods of natural disaster.
