APM Mukah Captures 1.5-Metre Python Found in Residential Toilet

MUKAH – The Malaysian Civil Defence Force APM Mukah successfully captured a 1.5-metre ringed python after it was reported inside a residential toilet, following an emergency call from a member of the public.

The alert prompted the immediate deployment of the APM task force, who arrived at the scene equipped with specialised tools to safely handle the snake. Using the pincer technique, officers were able to catch the python efficiently and without incident.

APM Mukah confirmed that the situation was quickly brought under control and that no injuries or damage occurred during the operation.

The team also ensured the area was safe before leaving the site, demonstrating their commitment to community safety and professional emergency response.

Authorities emphasised the importance of contacting trained personnel when encountering wildlife in residential areas.

Handling snakes without proper equipment or expertise can be extremely dangerous. APM teams are trained to manage such situations safely and effectively, minimising risks to residents and the animal.

The operation underscores the readiness of the Malaysian Civil Defence Force in Sarawak to respond to a variety of emergencies, including wildlife incidents, as part of their mandate under the Prime Minister’s Department and the Sarawak State Civil Defence Centre.

Residents are encouraged to remain vigilant and report any wildlife sightings promptly to ensure rapid response and safety.

APM Mukah expressed gratitude to the public for contacting the department and emphasised its continued commitment to protecting the community.

The APM Mukah Public Relations and Documentation Unit noted that professional and timely response is key in maintaining public trust and ensuring that emergencies, including encounters with snakes, are handled safely.
