King Sultan Ibrahim Receives Credentials from 12 Foreign Envoys

KUALA LUMPUR – His Majesty Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar today graced the Ceremony of Presentation of Credentials at Istana Negara today, where he received the letters of appointment from 12 newly accredited heads of foreign missions in Malaysia.

The ceremony was an important date on Malaysia’s diplomatic calendar, when envoys from various places start their tour of duty in Kuala Lumpur. The appearance also reinforced Malaysia’s position in furthering international ties and cooperation between continents.

By then, Dr Sandor Sipos, Ambassador of Hungary; Manjurul Karim Khan Chowdhury, High Commissioner of Bangladesh; Abdoul Aziz Loum, Ambassador of Senegal and Jehad Fouad Mabrouk Alqedra, Ambassador of Palestine had presented their credentials.

The list also had Peter Spisiak, Ambassador of Slovakia; Maher Kheir, Ambassador of Lebanon; Diego Pelufo Acosta y Lara (Uruguay) and Osamah bin Dakhel R. Al-Ahmadi, Ambassador of Saudi Arabia.

Raden Mohammad Iman Hascarya Kusumo, Ambassador of Indonesia; Marc Abensour, Ambassador of France; Ibrahim Bileh Doualeh, Ambassador of Djibouti; and Luiz Manuel de Magalhães de Albuquerque Veloso, Ambassador of Portugal also handed over their credentials to His Majesty.

The participation of envoys from Europe, Asia, Africa and the Middle East and Latin America were evidence of the broad reach of Malaysia’s diplomacy, which has positioned it as a hub for international dialogue.

Reiterating that Malaysia was a neutral and open state working to establish bridges between cultures and regions, the ceremony reinforced the role of Malaysia as an international host.

Also, present were Datuk Seri Utama Mohamad Hasan, Minister for Foreign Affairs; Dato’ Sri Amran Mohd Zin, Secretariat General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Tan Sri Dato’ Dr. Azmi Rohani, Datuk Comptroller of the Royal Household Istana Negara.

Their involvement was seen as a sign the government supports the monarchy’s diplomatic role and also attaches great importance to maintaining strong relationships with foreign countries.

Analysts say such ceremonies are more than just symbolic and act as a stepping stone to deeper collaboration in trade, education, security and cultural exchange. Malaysia’s partnership with these countries would enhance regional and global peace.

The ceremony at the Istana Negara illustrated Malaysia’s continued endorsement of a diplomacy based on respect, inclusivity and trust which had strengthened its status in the world.
