KUCHING — The Sam San Kuet Bong Temple in Kota Sentosa has received a fresh upgrade under the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) 2024, marking another step in ongoing efforts to improve community facilities in the area. The upgrading works, which cost RM100,000, were recently completed and officially inspected by YB Wilfred Yap, the Member of the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly for N12 Kota Sentosa.
YB Wilfred Yap visited the temple together with officers from the Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) to review the completed works. The visit followed the successful completion of improvements that focused mainly on new granite tiling within the temple premises. These upgrades were carried out under the RTP initiative, which aims to improve basic infrastructure and facilities for communities, particularly in semi-urban and rural areas.
During the visit, YB Yap expressed his satisfaction with both the quality of work and the fact that the project was completed on schedule. He noted that the new granite tiling has brought clear benefits to the temple, especially in terms of safety and cleanliness. According to him, the upgraded flooring reduces the risk of slips and improves comfort for devotees and visitors who frequent the temple.
“I am pleased to see that the upgrading works have been completed properly and to a good standard. The granite tiling not only enhances the overall look of the temple, but also provides a safer and more comfortable environment for devotees and visitors,” he said when speaking to the media.
YB Wilfred Yap also took the opportunity to thank all parties involved in ensuring the smooth implementation of the project. He acknowledged the commitment shown by officers from the Padawan Municipal Council, the appointed contractor Syarikat Pembinaan Kemuncak Emas, as well as the temple management committee. He said close cooperation between these groups was key to making sure the works were carried out according to the approved scope and met the required standards.
He reaffirmed his commitment to continuing development initiatives under the Rural Transformation Programme for the benefit of all communities in Kota Sentosa. YB Yap stressed that such projects reflect Sarawak’s inclusive and people-centred development approach, where improvements are made regardless of race, religion or background.
The upgrading of Sam San Kuet Bong Temple also reflects his ongoing efforts to support places of worship and community facilities, ensuring they remain well-maintained and accessible to the public. He added that these improvements play an important role in promoting community well-being and harmony.
Overall, the project forms part of wider infrastructure improvements carried out across Kota Sentosa under RTP 2024, aimed at improving the quality of life for residents and strengthening ties within the community.
