APM Sarikei Monitors Flood Risk Areas; Situation Under Control

SARIKEI – The Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) Sarikei District conducted monitoring operations on 11 February 2026, to assess flood-prone areas and ensure river water levels remained stable.

The exercise, held between 1.20 pm and 2.50 pm, involved three APM personnel: PBT (PA) Mohamad Rahmat, PBT (PA) Zurairi, and PBT (PA) Mohd Idris.

The team was supported by an ambulance and safety equipment, including two helmets, as part of preparedness measures.

Two key locations were monitored:

Kampung Warisan

Inspections at this site confirmed that water levels were stable and receding. Weather conditions remained favourable throughout the monitoring period.

Kilang Pasir Wharf

Checks here also found water levels under control, with a decreasing trend. No sudden rises were observed, and the situation was considered safe.

APM Sarikei confirmed that all monitored areas showed no immediate flood risk. Officials stressed that continuous monitoring is essential for rapid response to any potential flood situations.

Proactive monitoring is particularly important in districts vulnerable to seasonal flooding. By conducting regular checks, APM aims to provide early warnings and ensure swift action if water levels rise unexpectedly.

Residents welcomed the initiative, noting that such measures offer reassurance and strengthen community resilience against natural disasters.

The operation reflects APM’s ongoing commitment to protecting lives and property through vigilance and preparedness.

APM Sarikei reiterated that it will continue collaborating with local authorities and communities to maintain safety measures, reinforcing its role as a frontline agency in disaster management.
