Matang, 14 February 2026 – A major traffic enforcement operation in Matang last night led to the issuance of 174 summonses and the arrest of two men for dangerous riding. The operation, known as Operation Samseng Jalanan, was carried out along Jalan FAC Matang and focused on traffic violations and illegal motorcycle modifications.
The operation began at 11.00 pm on 14 February 2026 under the supervision of local traffic authorities. A total of 215 individuals were checked throughout the night. Officers were particularly vigilant for riders performing stunts and vehicles that did not comply with safety regulations.
During the enforcement, 20 motorcycles with illegal modifications were seized. Two men, aged 19 and 20, were arrested under Section 42 of the Road Transport Act 1987 after being caught performing a “superman” stunt on a motorcycle. Authorities emphasized that such reckless behaviour endangers both the riders and the public.
The operation, which concluded at 8.00 am on 15 February, reflects ongoing efforts by the authorities to curb illegal racing and dangerous stunts on public roads. Traffic police warned that enforcement actions would continue in other high-risk areas to ensure road safety for all users.
Local residents expressed support for the crackdown, noting that modified motorcycles and reckless riding have been a growing concern in recent years. The authorities also reminded the public that adhering to traffic laws not only prevents accidents but also avoids legal repercussions, including fines, arrests, and vehicle seizures.
