Majma’ Raya Fest 2026 Opens at Sarawak Islamic Complex

KUCHING – The Majma’ Raya Fest 2026 officially opened this evening at the Sarawak Islamic Complex, marking the start of a festive programme that will run until 29 March 2026.

The opening ceremony was officiated by Puan Dayang Norjihan, daughter of the Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg. Her presence underscored the significance of the event, which has become a highlight in Kuching’s Ramadan and Hari Raya calendar.

The festival, which began on 19 February, features a wide range of attractions, including a Food Bazaar, Raya Bazaar, and Fashion Bazaar. These activities are centred at the Majma’ Mall Shopping Centre and its surrounding grounds, creating a lively atmosphere for visitors.

A total of 138 stalls have been set up, offering traditional delicacies, festive goods, and fashion items. Organisers emphasised that the bazaar aims to enliven the spirit of Ramadan while also preparing the community for the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations.

Among the distinguished guests present were Datu Misnu bin Taha, President of the Sarawak Islamic Council, and Datu Abang Shiblie bin Abg Naili, General Manager of Baitulmal Sarawak. Their attendance highlighted the collaborative effort between local authorities and community organisations in ensuring the success of the festival.

The Majma’ Raya Fest has long been recognised as more than just a marketplace. It serves as a cultural and social platform, encouraging togetherness and strengthening community bonds during the holy month.
