PUSA – The Sarawak Islamic Religious Department (JAIS) has continued its Ramadan Pilgrimage programme, bringing together the Kampung Semarang community in Pusa to strengthen friendship and harmony among Muslims.
The event, held on Friday, was officiated by Mual Suaud, Director of JAIS and Secretary of the Sarawak Islamic Council (MIS). He highlighted the significance of such programmes in reinforcing bonds of brotherhood and fostering the spirit of family within the Muslim community. The gathering also provided an opportunity for residents to break fast together in a warm and inclusive atmosphere.
“The month of Ramadan is a month full of blessings, and rewards are multiplied. Therefore, Muslims need to seize this opportunity by increasing noble practices such as giving charity, maintaining prayers and worshipping Allah SWT with full sincerity,” he said.
Mual Suaud reminded attendees to remain grateful for the blessings they receive, noting that gratitude brings positive outcomes in life. He also encouraged the community to use their time wisely, avoiding unproductive activities. Young people, in particular, were urged to engage in efforts that build a brighter future.
He further stressed that success in both worldly and spiritual matters requires effort and knowledge, describing knowledge as the foundation for shaping a more orderly and meaningful life.
During the event, JAIS contributed RM3,000 to the mosque management fund. The Sarawak Islamic Council also distributed cash donations and food baskets to 40 underprivileged recipients, alongside school equipment and financial aid for 40 students. In addition, vacuum cleaning equipment was donated to the Surau Management Committee An Nur Kampung Semarang, Pusa.
The programme reflected the department’s commitment to supporting communities during Ramadan, not only through spiritual guidance but also by providing practical assistance to those in need.
Several local leaders attended the ceremony, including Betong Division Islamic Religious Officer Mohd Isselahuddin Kameri, Pusa District Officer Hamdan Katang, Pusa District Pemanca Rosli Uji, Beladin Zone Headman Zakaria Mos, and Semarang Village Headman Suria Azmie. Their presence underscored the collaborative spirit between religious authorities and local leadership in fostering community well-being.
