Community Iftar Ceremony Strengthens Bonds in Sibu

SIBU – A community iftar ceremony was held on Saturday, 21 February 2026, corresponding to 3 Ramadan 1447H, at Surau Al-Fallah in Stapang, Sibu. The event was organised by the Our Brother’s Development Division in collaboration with the Sibu Division Islamic Religious Office.

The gathering brought together members of the local community to share in the spirit of Ramadan. A total of 28 participants attended, creating a warm and inclusive atmosphere for the breaking of fast.

The ceremony featured a Ramadan Tazkirah delivered by Ustaz Yakub Abdullah, Executive of the Sarawak Islamic Council. His presentation emphasised the values of patience, compassion, and unity during the holy month, reminding attendees of the importance of strengthening ties within the community.

Also present was Ustazah Rafeah Buang, Islamic Religious Officer of the Sibu Division, who joined the congregation in supporting the initiative. The event highlighted the role of religious institutions in fostering solidarity and encouraging shared reflection during Ramadan.

Organisers noted that the ceremony was not only an opportunity to break fast together but also a platform to reinforce communal bonds. By bringing residents together in a spiritual setting, the programme aimed to nurture greater understanding and cooperation among participants.

Community members expressed appreciation for the effort, recognising the importance of such gatherings in promoting inclusivity and mutual respect. The event was seen as a meaningful way to celebrate Ramadan while encouraging values that extend beyond the fasting month.

The collaboration between the Our Brother’s Development Division and the Sibu Division Islamic Religious Office reflects a broader commitment to supporting community welfare and religious education. Initiatives like these are expected to continue throughout Ramadan, offering residents opportunities to engage in collective worship and reflection.

The ceremony concluded with prayers and the breaking of fast, leaving participants hopeful that similar events will further strengthen unity and spiritual growth in the Sibu community.
