KUALA LUMPUR – The Governor of Sarawak, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Haji Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, and his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, attended a Ramadan iftar ceremony in the capital on Wednesday evening. The event was hosted at a leading hotel and brought together senior figures from government, judiciary, and business circles.
The Governor was accompanied by his children, Sharifah Nong-Jasima and Encik Tasneem. Their presence highlighted the family’s commitment to engaging with both official representatives and the wider community during the holy month.
Among the distinguished guests were Datuk Seri Mohd Firuz Jaffril, Chief Judge of the Court of Appeal, Tan Sri Haji Bustari Yusuf, Tan Sri Mohamad Salim Fateh Din, Dato’ Mohamad Nizam Tun Abdul Razak, Dato’ Seri Abdul Rasheed Ghaffour, and Datuk Patrick Lim Soo Kit. Their attendance reflected the significance of the gathering as a platform for strengthening ties across various sectors.
Before the meal, guests joined in performing the Maghrib prayer, led by Alfadhil Ustaz Mohd Rusydi Wan Yusup, Religious and Research Officer at the Office of the Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak. The prayer set a solemn tone for the evening, underscoring the spiritual importance of Ramadan.
The event served as a meaningful occasion for the Governor and his wife to meet face-to-face with friends, acquaintances, and agency representatives. Attendees included figures from institutions such as Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka and UNIRAZAK, highlighting the diverse backgrounds represented at the ceremony.
Following the meal, souvenir photographs were taken with dignitaries and guests, marking the evening as both a formal and personal occasion. The Governor and Toh Puan expressed their gratitude for the warm atmosphere and extended prayers for continued blessings, good health, and strength of faith for all Muslims during the holy month.
