KUCHING – The Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg, attended a fast breaking ceremony with the Kuching North City Hall (DBKU) at the Satria Pertiwi Complex on 2 March 2026.
The evening began with the breaking of fast, followed by the congregational Maghrib prayer and a dinner. The programme also included the presentation of donations to 16 recipients, comprising DBKU orphans and special children from the Datuk Amar Hajjah Juma’ani Welfare Centre.
The ceremony continued with Isyak and Tarawih prayers in congregation before concluding with moreh. The event reflected Sarawak’s commitment to fostering community spirit and inclusivity during the holy month of Ramadan.
The Premier was accompanied by his wife, Puan Dayang Norjihan binti Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari. Also present were Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi, Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department (Project Coordinator for the Regional Development Agency, Kuching North City Hall and Islamic Affairs), together with his wife Datin Hajah Siti Shorgayah binti Haji Ahmad Zaidin.
Other dignitaries included Datuk Dr Hazland Abang Hipni, Deputy Minister of Energy and Environmental Sustainability; Datuk Ibrahim Baki, Deputy Minister of Utilities for Sarawak Energy and PETROS affairs; and Dato Haji Hilmy bin Haji Othman, Mayor of Kuching North.
The gathering highlighted the importance of unity and compassion, with leaders and community members coming together to share in the blessings of Ramadan.
The donations presented during the event underscored Sarawak’s ongoing welfare agenda, ensuring that vulnerable groups are supported during the festive season.
By combining religious observance with community outreach, the ceremony reinforced Sarawak’s broader vision of inclusivity, care, and shared prosperity.
