SELANGAU – Rural infrastructure in Sarawak has received a boost with the completion of the MyKhas 2025 Programme project to upgrade the entrance road to Paran Gerimang Longhouse in Sungai Mengeris, Nanga Tepus.
The project, measuring 228 metres long and four metres wide, was officially handed over on Tuesday at Rh Paran, Batu 66, Jalan Selangau/Bintulu.
The ceremony was attended by representatives from the Selangau Parliamentary Service Centre, the Public Works Department (JKR) Malaysia Sibu Division, and the Sarawak Development Office (SDO) Sibu.
The handover was officiated by Cr Binit Madang, representing Selangau Member of Parliament Edwin Banta. He emphasised that the upgraded road is vital in ensuring safer and more comfortable access for residents, particularly during the rainy season when road conditions previously became difficult.
The improvements are expected to ease daily movement for the community, including access to schools, healthcare facilities, and local economic activities. Residents welcomed the project as a significant step towards improving their quality of life.
Close collaboration between the Selangau Parliamentary Service Centre, JKR, and SDO ensured the project was completed on schedule and in compliance with technical specifications.
The initiative reflects the government’s commitment to narrowing the development gap between urban and rural areas by providing quality infrastructure.
The MyKhas 2025 Programme continues to play a crucial role in enhancing rural connectivity and supporting community welfare. With the completion of the Rh Paran entrance road, residents now benefit from improved accessibility, contributing to long-term socio-economic development in the area.
This project is part of Sarawak’s broader agenda to strengthen rural infrastructure, ensuring that communities in remote areas are not left behind in the state’s development journey.
