Chinese New Year Charity Event Brings Hope to Kuching Families

KUCHING: The Kuching Chi Jia Charitable Society organised the Chinese New Year charity event in Batu Tiga on 2 March to provide assistance to families in need.

The group organised the gathering of donors, committee members and community leaders to provide support in the form of cash contributions and essential items. Money was raised through a charity sale, with donations distributed at the ceremony.

YB Datuk Lo Khere Chiang, representing Sarawak Deputy Premier and Minister of Public Health, Housing and Local Government, YB Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian, said that the society’s continued dedication to assist the needy is much appreciated by Dr Sim.

During his speech, Datuk Lo spoke about the wider’s reach of charity work highlighting that it doesn’t just help ease someone’s daily struggle, but also give hope and confidence to a family in need. “The work of these charities not only helps to make daily life better but also brings hope and reassurance to families experiencing lack,” he said.

The event’s atmosphere was warm and caring, representing the spirit of unity and compassion of Sarawak’s community support during festive seasons. Organisers said that more than material assistance, the distribution sought to build community ties and reassurance for families that they did not stand alone in their hardships.

The Kuching Chi Jia Charitable Society, an organisation active for over a decade in helping the underprivileged through welfare schemes, donations and outreach efforts. Its holiday initiatives are especially moving, making sure that families who scrape by will be able to celebrate with dignity and joy.

Community leaders hailed the event as proof that goodwill can create powerful change. They said such programmes, which demonstrate Sarawak’s spirit of inclusiveness, empathy and solidarity, underline the need for people-centred support through the community.

The benefit at Batu Tiga serves as a testament to how compassion and solidarity can create an enduring impact. Through collaboration and effort, the society and its advocates continue to offer hope and strength to those who need it most.
