MAKSAK Sarawak Quran End Ceremony Concludes in Devotion

KUCHING – The Sarawak Government Members Welfare and Sports Council (MAKSAK) convened its Al-Quran End Ceremony on 5 March 2026 at the Surau Satria Pertiwi Complex to package up participants in an air of veneration and shroud.

The session began with a prayer for blessings by reciting the Prophet Muhammad SAW and Surah Al-Fatihah. This preceded an uplifting and spiritually focused event, attesting to the council’s commitment to incorporating religious inspiration into their meetings.

The ceremony commenced with early prayers led by Ustazah Datin Hajah Shanty. The event then proceeds with the formal ending of Al-Quran recitation, representing a symbol of completing readings and dedication to the holy scripture.

After the recital, Ustazah Zaitun delivered a closing prayer to end the event spiritually. Following the opening remarks, Dato Hajah Baduyah binti Haji Bujang, Chairman of MAKSAK Wanita Sarawak, gave a short speech. She spoke about the invaluable contribution of members and how important it is to embed religion into everything we do.

Participants were presented with souvenirs as a token of appreciation and then took part in a group photo session. This symbolic gesture helped create a shared sense of unity and appreciation and, at the same time, was also a long-lasting souvenir of the event.

The Al-Quran End Ceremony is a continuing tradition in MAKSAK, highlighting the council’s role as a welfare and spiritual catalyst for members of government. These types of events not only reinforce religious devotion but also create camaraderie and collective identity within the organisation.

And so they sang and joined the band in song. The crowd held each other much longer than it took to solidify their bond. The ceremony showed how religious practices remain a powerful force in shaping values and reinforcing bonds across Sarawak’s diverse populace.
