SK Long Pelutan in Baram Completed, Offering Modern Facilities

BARAM – The construction of Sekolah Kebangsaan Long Pelutan in Baram, Miri, has been completed, bringing new facilities for students and teachers in the rural community.

The project, carried out by the Public Works Department Malaysia (JKR) Sarawak, involved the construction of twelve building blocks.

The development includes a four-storey administration block with six classrooms, a dining hall, two dormitory blocks, and two toilet blocks, all designed to meet the needs of students.

Three blocks of semi-D barrack-style teachers’ quarters were also built to provide accommodation for educators serving in the area.

Additional infrastructure includes two water pump houses and a generator set house to support the school’s daily operations.

The project covered external works, furniture installation, demolition, piling, and mechanical and electrical systems. These components ensure the facilities are fully equipped and ready for use.

The completion of Sekolah Kebangsaan Long Pelutan reflects ongoing efforts to improve educational infrastructure in rural parts of Sarawak.

Access to proper facilities has long posed a challenge for many remote communities, and the new buildings provide a more comfortable learning environment for students.

Officials said the project forms part of wider efforts to reduce the gap between urban and rural education in the state.

With better classrooms, dormitories, and staff housing, students in Baram gain an environment suited for both academic learning and school activities.

Improved accommodation for teachers also supports efforts to attract and retain educators in remote areas, which strengthens the overall quality of education.

The Public Works Department of Malaysia Sarawak said the project reflects its commitment to delivering infrastructure that benefits communities. The department continues work on development projects that support rural progress across the state.

The school now stands ready to welcome students and staff, marking another step in efforts to expand access to education throughout Sarawak.
