The gathering hosted residents and community leaders celebrating goodwill and working in solidarity with one another, conducted along the lines of Ramadan. The Premier came through the doors at 6.15pm, greeted by leaders and guests assembled to enliven the ceremony.

Asnaf are those fed by the Premier during the programme, with 10 asnaf representatives receiving aid on behalf of 300 recipients in Gedong. He also allocated MRP (Small Rural Project) grants for 26 mosques, suraus and madrasahs in the parliamentary constituency to improve religious activities and facilities in the district.

Also presented during the ceremony were replica cheques for land acquisition compensation involving 119 recipients, amounting to a total of RM6.5 million. This initiative demonstrates the government’s preparedness to ensure development projects can co-exist with community welfare.

The evening continued with engaging in breaking fast together with the attendees, followed by congregational Maghrib prayer. Alerted by the sound of a bell, people would come out to join prayers at Isyak and Tarawih time, and dinner was served, sharpening the sense of community that Ramadan brings.

These gatherings are not only an opportunity for leaders to bond with their people but also a way to promote unity and compassion during the holy month. In the times of shared religious observance, the Premier emphasised maintaining solidarity and goodwill.

Among those present were Sarawak State Secretary Datuk Amar Haji Mohamad Abu Bakar bin Marzuki, Deputy State Secretary (Economic Planning and Development) Dato Sri Dr Muhammad Abdullah bin Haji Zaidel, and Batang Sadong Member of Parliament Rodiyah Sapiee, all highlighting the unified front held by state leadership with Gedong residents.

The Gedong Iftar Puasa ceremony further highlighted the Premier’s concern for his constituency, which he continues to strengthen through various spiritual and development activities.
