LIMBANG – In a gesture of communal support and festive cheer, the Sarawak Public Works Department (JKR) Islamic Welfare Association (PKIJ) for the Limbang Division organised a special welfare initiative yesterday.
The event, held on 10 March, focused on the distribution of “Syawal Kits” to department personnel in anticipation of the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations.
The distribution ceremony was led by the Limbang Divisional Engineer, Ir. Ts. Louis anak Jonathan Philip. His participation underscored the department’s commitment to fostering a supportive work environment and maintaining strong bonds among the staff during significant cultural and religious milestones.
The Syawal Kits, which consist of various essential items intended to assist with festive preparations, were handed out to various members of the department.
Beyond the material support, the primary objective of the programme was to share the blessings of the season and ensure that every staff member feels the spirit of togetherness as the month of Syawal approaches.
This initiative is part of a broader commitment by the PKIJ to look after the well-being of its members. By providing these kits, the association hopes to alleviate some of the logistical pressures of holiday preparation while encouraging a culture of empathy and mutual care within the civil service.
According to JKR Sarawak Media, the programme was executed seamlessly, a success attributed to the high level of cooperation between association volunteers and the divisional leadership.
The smooth delivery of the kits across the division reflects the disciplined yet compassionate organisational structure of the Limbang office.
Organisers expressed hope that such welfare activities will become a permanent fixture in the department’s annual calendar.
Efforts like the Syawal Kit distribution are viewed as vital for boosting morale and nurturing a sense of “big family” among the technical and administrative teams who serve the Limbang region.
As the community prepares for the sighting of the new moon, this early gesture of kindness serves as a reminder of the importance of social harmony and the sharing of sustenance within the workplace.
