The couple’s arrival was warmly received by Tan Sri Datuk Amar (Dr.) Haji Abdul Aziz bin Dato Haji Husain, Chairman of SEDC Sarawak, alongside senior management and invited guests.
The event was also attended by several state leaders, including YB Datuk Dr. Haji Hazland bin Abang Haji Hipni, Deputy Minister of Energy and Environmental Sustainability, accompanied by YBhg. Datin Hajah Dayang Halimah Abang Paul; YB Dr. Haji Juanda bin Jaya, Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department (Integrity and Ombudsman), with YBhg. Datin Shanti binti Achmed Ramly; and YBrs. Puan Hajah Rakayah binti Hamdan, General Manager of SEDC Sarawak.
The evening began with the breaking of fast, followed by congregational Maghrib prayers led by Dato Haji Mustapha Kamal bin Ahmad Fauzi, Grand Imam of Sarawak. Guests later joined Tun Pehin Sri and Toh Puan for dinner at the Poolside Pavilion before continuing with Isyak and Terawih prayers.
A highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of donations to several tahfiz centres, including Pondok Hidayatul Muddadi-len Wa Tahfizul Quran, Madrasah Tahfiz Al Hanaah, and Madrasah Darul Uloom Islamiyyah. The gesture reflected support for Islamic education and the nurturing of future generations of huffaz in Sarawak.
The Governor and Toh Puan expressed appreciation to SEDC for organising the event, noting its role in fostering values of brotherhood, unity, and appreciation of Ramadan. They emphasised that such programmes strengthen ties between state leadership and the wider community, reinforcing the spirit of togetherness during the holy month.
The ceremony underscored SEDC’s commitment to community engagement, combining religious observance with charitable initiatives. By involving leaders, staff, and the public, the event highlighted the importance of collective participation in nurturing faith and social responsibility.
As Ramadan continues, similar gatherings across Sarawak are expected to further encourage devotion, charity, and unity, reflecting the state’s dedication to strengthening both spiritual and communal bonds.
