BETONG – A road accident involving a trailer lorry and a Proton Wira sedan occurred in Betong on Friday, leaving two victims injured.
The incident was reported to the Betong Civil Defence Force (APM Betong) through its MERS Operations Room after a passer-by contacted authorities to request assistance. A team of four personnel, led by Sjn (PA) Michael Awan anak Aing, was immediately dispatched to the scene.
Upon arrival, APM officers confirmed that the collision involved both vehicles and that two individuals had sustained injuries. A rapid body survey was conducted, and initial treatment was provided at the site. One of the victims suffered bruising on the right side of the face before being transported to Betong Hospital for further medical care.
The accident is currently under police investigation to determine the cause of the collision. Authorities have not yet released further details regarding the circumstances leading to the incident.
Local residents have expressed concern over road safety in the district, noting that heavy vehicles such as trailers often pose risks on narrow or busy routes. The accident highlights the importance of vigilance among drivers and the need for continued enforcement of traffic regulations to reduce such incidents.
The Civil Defence Force has reminded the public that emergency assistance is available through its operations room and encouraged road users to report accidents promptly to ensure swift response.
