Sri Aman Schools Unite for Quran Hour 2026 Celebration

SRI AMAN – Forty schools across the Sri Aman district came together on 6 March 2026 for the Quran Hour programme, held in conjunction with the Nuzul Quran celebration.

The event, which took place at SK Abang Aing, was coordinated by the Sri Aman District Education Office and involved teachers, officers, students, and members of the Muslim Implementation Group (AKP).

The initiative was conducted simultaneously in schools throughout the district, reflecting a collective effort to strengthen appreciation of the Quran among both educators and students.

By focusing on contemplation and appreciation, the programme sought to instil values of faith and morality among participants.

The objectives outlined by the Sri Aman District Education Office included fostering interest in Quranic study among school staff and reinforcing the Quran as a source of guidance in life.

The initiative also aimed to nurture moral strength and resilience among younger generations, ensuring that the Quran remains a central reference point in facing modern challenges.

A verse from Surah Al-Isra’ was highlighted during the programme: “Indeed, this Quran guides to the straightest path and gives good news to those who believe and do righteous deeds that they will have a great reward.” (Surah Al-Isra’: 9)

The Quran Hour was not only a spiritual exercise but also a community-building effort. By involving schools at every level, the programme reinforced unity and collective responsibility in promoting religious literacy.

Education officers noted that such initiatives are vital in ensuring that the values of the Quran are passed on to future generations.

The Sri Aman District Education Office’s Islamic Education Unit expressed hope that the Quran Hour would continue to be held annually, strengthening the bond between faith and education.

They added that the programme reflects broader efforts across Sarawak to integrate spiritual development with academic growth.

Observers noted that similar Quran Hour events have been held in other parts of Malaysia, often coinciding with Ramadan and the Nuzul Quran commemoration.

These programmes are widely seen as opportunities to reconnect communities with the Quran and encourage reflection on its relevance in contemporary society.

The Sri Aman event concluded with calls for continued engagement, with organisers stressing the importance of sustaining momentum beyond the celebration.

They expressed optimism that the initiative would inspire students and educators alike to embrace the Quran as a lifelong guide.
