BAU – A total of RM1.77 million has been allocated under the Minor Rural Project (MRP) through the Special Project Monitoring System (SPMS) Series 1/2026, benefiting 86 recipients in the Tasik Biru State Legislative Assembly (DUN) area.
The funding supports community initiatives and strengthens local organisations. Recipients include Village Development and Security Committees (JKKK), prayer houses, cultural associations, non-governmental groups, and staff clubs from government agencies.
The grant presentation ceremony took place at the Balai Gerempung Bansa Dayak Bidayuh (DBNA) in Bau. Cheques were handed over by Henry Harry Jinep, who also serves as the Tasik Biru assemblyman.
During his speech, Datuk Henry said the allocation forms part of ongoing work to support local communities and encourage new activities. The funds will help organisations run programmes for residents, including activities for senior citizens.
He said grassroots groups play an important role in community life. With proper support, these organisations run projects that strengthen social welfare, preserve culture, and keep communities united.
The ceremony was also attended by Eddy Nayoi, Officer of the Odor Removal Unit, Superintendent Mohd Haide A. Rahman, Odor Removal Police Officer, and Ong Chin Ping, Secretary of the Odor Removal Council. Their presence reflected cooperation between different agencies involved in community development.
Datuk Henry added the funding shows the government’s commitment to rural areas, with resources directed to groups working closely with local residents. Future allocations will continue to focus on inclusive programmes, especially those supporting vulnerable groups.
The RM1.77 million allocation is expected to bring benefits across the Tasik Biru constituency, from improving facilities at prayer houses to supporting outreach work by NGOs. Stronger local organisations help build a more united and resilient community in Bau.
