KUCHING – The Sarawak State Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM), in partnership with SEDC Energy, organised the 2026 Spicy Porridge Ramadan Programme on 16 March 2026 at the PETROS MFS Batu Kawa Petrol Station.
The programme began with the symbolic handing over of spicy porridge by Jamri bin Masran and Kathleen Kiew.
The porridge was distributed to community representatives from Taman Bumiko Batu Kawa, Taman Desa Wira Lot, RPR Batu Kawa Phase 2, and Kampung Sinar Budi, as well as to passing road users.
The initiative aimed to enhance the spirit of Ramadan while strengthening ties between government agencies and the local community.
In addition to food distribution, JBPM provided fire safety leaflets, offering guidance on fire prevention during the festive season.
Senior officials from JBPM Sarawak Headquarters, various zones and stations, and SEDC Energy staff were present to support the event, reflecting strong collaboration between the agencies.
Organisers said programmes like this are intended to continue throughout Ramadan, combining festive sharing with public safety awareness.
The event highlighted JBPM’s dual focus on community welfare and fire prevention while fostering goodwill and community spirit.
