Sarawak Premier Calls for Unity and Progress This Aidilfitri

KUCHING – As Sarawakians prepare to celebrate Hari Raya Aidilfitri this year, Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg has extended his heartfelt greetings, urging the people to uphold unity, gratitude, and forward-looking development.

In his official message, the Premier praised the people for completing the holy month of Ramadan, highlighting it as a period of spiritual growth, patience, and reflection on the blessings bestowed by Allah. “Ramadan is a month of education for the soul, strengthening discipline, empathy, and awareness that all blessings are entrusted by Allah,” he said. The Premier added that these values should serve as the foundation for a society that is united, ethical, and integrity-driven.

Throughout Ramadan, the Premier personally participated in numerous community programs, visiting suraus, joining iftar gatherings, and engaging with asnaf and orphans. He also met Sarawakians living and working in Peninsular Malaysia, emphasizing the enduring bond of family and state identity regardless of distance. “Every meeting provides an opportunity to hear the hopes, challenges, and aspirations of our people while assessing the effectiveness of government policies and initiatives,” he noted.

Looking ahead, the Premier outlined Sarawak’s ongoing development plans under PCDS 2030, with a focus on infrastructure upgrades, high-tech economic transformation, and STEM education. He highlighted initiatives in semiconductors and aerospace, including the CubeSat satellite program, aimed at equipping young Sarawakians with advanced skills to drive innovation and support global industries. The Free Tertiary Education Sarawak program was also cited as a key effort to empower the next generation without financial barriers.

The government continues to prioritize public welfare, with affordable housing projects, renewable energy development, and essential infrastructure improvements across the state. Projects include over 900 housing units under Rumah Spektra Permata and Projek Rakyat, as well as major road upgrades connecting Miri, Marudi, and Mulu to boost accessibility and socio-economic growth.

May Sarawak remain peaceful, stable, and prosperous for generations to come.”
