SERIAN – The Road Transport Department (JPJ) Sarawak stepped up enforcement through its Serian branch on 23 March as part of Ops Hari Raya Aidilfitri (HRA) 2026, focusing on patrols and monitoring around the town to keep roads safer during the festive period.
Officers inspected 127 vehicles across different categories. Along the way, they found several common offences, including drivers without valid licences, probationary licence holders breaking their conditions, and passengers not wearing seat belts. Some vehicles also showed technical problems, raising concerns about overall road safety.
JPJ took action against those who broke the rules, in line with current laws. The department stressed that enforcement like this plays a key role in protecting road users, especially when traffic increases during Hari Raya.
Ops HRA runs nationwide each year with the aim of reducing accidents and encouraging better compliance with traffic laws.
The Serian branch’s involvement reflects JPJ Sarawak’s continued focus on keeping local roads orderly and safe.
Similar operations are happening across the country, with authorities urging drivers to stay alert and responsible.
JPJ continues to remind the public that simple steps make a difference. Wearing seat belts, following licence rules, and keeping vehicles in excellent condition all help lower risks on the road.
These enforcement efforts complement ongoing safety campaigns, particularly during festive seasons. The goal stays the same: reduce accidents, prevent injuries, and save lives.
The Syrian operation sends a clear message. Regular checks and penalties aim to discourage careless driving and reinforce the need to obey the law.
With Hari Raya approaching, JPJ Sarawak is calling on everyone to cooperate. Following traffic rules isn’t only about avoiding fines; it’s about protecting yourself and others on the road.
