KUALA LUMPUR – The Governor of Sarawak, Tun Pehin Sri Dr. Haji Wan Junaidi bin Tuanku Jaafar and his wife Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah binti Mohd Sanusi at the Aidilfitri 2026 Reception Ceremony in a premier hotel in the in the capital on Monday night.
The gathering, which started at 7.30pm saw dignitaries, family members and corporate executives celebrate the occasion of togetherness and tradition.
Also present were the Governor’s two daughters, Sharifah Nong-Jasima and Sharifah Nuril Barieyah with their spouses, Encik Muhammad Nur Hakeem as well as Encik David James Foley. His son Encik Tasnim and granddaughter Feona Elsie Norjannah Foley were also there. Toh Puan’s mother, Puan Mahni binti Aman, was present with other relatives and close friends.
The event was attended by prominent members of Malaysia’s judiciary and government. Among those who attended were Datuk Seri Utama Wan Ahmad Farid bin Wan Salleh, Chief Justice of Malaysia, together with To’ Puan Intan Baizura binti Wahab and Datuk Ahmad Fahmi bin Mohamed Fadzil, Minister of Communications, along with his wife, Datin Azrina Puteri Mohamed Mayhudin.
On the corporate front, among those who attended were Tan Sri Bustari Yusuf and his wife, Puan Sri Johrah Abdul Rahman, Tan Sri Datuk Wira Azman bin Haji Mokhtar and his wife Puan Sri Datin Wira Mastura binti Abdul Rahman as well as Dato’ Mohamed Nizam Tun Abdul Razak and his wife Datin Khatijah Tun Abdul Rahman.
Diverse attendance included members from associations and agencies such as the Malaysian Rabithah Alawiyah Association, Malaysian Ahlulbait Benyahya Association, Kuala Lumpur Sarawak Liaison Office, Language and Library Council and UNIRAZAK.
During the welcome address, Dato Sri Haji Syed Hamzah bin Syed Paie, Senior Private Secretary to the Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak thanked the Governor and Toh Puan for gracing the Eid celebration even though their busy schedule being in Ramadan. He also appreciated the presence of 450 guests from all over Malaysia, Perak, Terengganu and Penang.
The Governor and Toh Puan spent the evening mixing with guests in a gesture that highlights the ideals of brotherhood, friendship and family ties that exist in Malaysia’s plural society. They also gave out Raya envelopes to guests, especially children, as a show of gratitude during the celebration.
In conclusion, Tun Pehin Sri and Toh Puan expressed their sincere gratitude for the opportunity to celebrate Aidilfitri with both family or friends. They rejoiced for the day to bring everlasting memories, and prayed blessings of happiness and wealth to everyone.
