Aidilfitri Visits in Senadin Foster Unity Across Communities

MIRI – In Senadin, Hari Raya visits turned into more than a festive routine. They became a reminder of how strong community ties still run across Sarawak’s diverse society.

Over two days, the Sarawak United People’s Party Senadin Branch organised a visiting programme that brought leaders and residents together from different backgrounds.

The effort was led by Lee Kim Shin, who also serves as the Senadin assemblyman, along with his wife and a group of local community figures.

Among those joining the visits were Yong Vui Seng, Chai Kuen Ming, and Jee Kee Hiong, along with other grassroots leaders. Together, they made stops at 26 homes across Miri.

The route covered a mix of neighbourhoods, from Kampung Masjid and Kampung Muhibbah Kuala Baram to Tudan, Pengkalan Lutong, Lopeng Tengah, and Kampung Kadong. The group also visited the homes of Lukanisman Awang Sauni and Abang Mohamed Othman.

For Lee Kim Shin, the purpose of these visits goes beyond celebration. He sees them as a way to keep connections strong across cultures and communities.

Sitting down together, sharing food, and exchanging greetings helps build understanding in a natural, everyday setting.

That spirit sits at the heart of Hari Raya Aidilfitri. The celebration carries themes of forgiveness, togetherness, and openness.

Programmes like this bring those values to life, especially in a state known for its mix of cultures and traditions.

Community leaders echoed the same view. Regular visits like these keep relationships alive and reinforce a shared sense of belonging.

They also show how local organisations and leaders help maintain harmony through simple, consistent efforts.

Across Sarawak, festive seasons often double as moments for connection. In Senadin, this round of Aidilfitri visits showed how a long-standing tradition still plays a key role in bringing people closer.
