MUKAH – The Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) Mukah successfully carried out an insect nest destruction operation on 27 March 2026 following a public emergency call.
The case involved a wasp nest located on a tree branch. The nest, described as being the size of a takraw ball, posed a potential risk to nearby residents.
Acting swiftly, the APM team deployed ridsect spray combined with controlled fire techniques to eliminate the nest.
The operation was completed without incident, and the area was declared safe shortly afterwards. No injuries or property damage were reported, and the situation was brought under control in a timely manner.
APM Mukah expressed gratitude to the public for promptly reporting the case, stressing that early communication is vital in preventing accidents and ensuring community safety.
The organisation reiterated its commitment to protecting residents, highlighting its readiness through the mottos “APM Mukah, Nang Steady” and “There is a Disaster, Call APM”.
Officials noted that wasp nests can pose serious risks, particularly when located near homes or public spaces. Wasp stings may cause allergic reactions in some individuals, making professional intervention essential.
The Civil Defence Force reminded residents not to attempt nest removal themselves, as improper handling could lead to dangerous situations.
The incident reflects the broader role of APM Mukah in safeguarding communities from various hazards, ranging from wildlife encounters to environmental threats.
Their work continues to emphasise the importance of vigilance, cooperation, and rapid response in maintaining public safety.
Residents in Mukah and surrounding areas are encouraged to remain alert and to contact APM immediately if they encounter similar situations. The organisation’s hotline operates 24 hours a day, ensuring assistance is always available.
