His arrival was warmly received by Haji Shebli bin Hairani, Chairman of the At-Taqwa Mosque Miri Division (Miri Malay Welfare Trust Board), together with officers on duty. The Governor was accompanied by his children, Muhammad Nur Hakeem and Tasneem.

The congregation included several prominent figures, among them Dato Sri Haji Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, Minister of Tourism, Creative Industries and Performing Arts Sarawak, as well as Supt Mohd Syafiq, Deputy District Police Chief of Miri.

Local worshippers also joined the prayers, creating a strong sense of community during the blessed occasion.

The Friday prayer was led by Ustaz Imam Sharafuddin bin Haji Suaut, Imam of Miri Division, who delivered a sermon titled “Istiqamah Melaksanakan Ketaatan, Berkaserkan Menjawaan Keamanan”. The sermon emphasised steadfastness in obedience and the pursuit of peace through faith.

Following the prayers, Tun Pehin Sri Wan Junaidi mingled with the congregation, shaking hands and exchanging greetings in the spirit of Aidilfitri.

He also distributed donation envelopes to children, symbolising remembrance and joy during the festive season. The gesture was warmly received and added to the celebratory atmosphere of Lebaran.

In his remarks, the Governor expressed gratitude for the opportunity to perform prayers alongside the local community.

He highlighted the values of repentance, unity, and love that underpin Aidilfitri, stressing the importance of nurturing these principles in daily life.

The event underscored the Governor’s commitment to engaging directly with communities across Sarawak, reinforcing the cultural and spiritual significance of Aidilfitri.

His presence at At-Taqwa Mosque reflected the broader message of inclusivity and harmony, values that remain central to Sarawak’s diverse society.

The gathering concluded with a shared hope that the spirit of Aidilfitri will continue to inspire unity and strengthen bonds among families, leaders, and communities throughout the state.
