MIRI – The Governor of Sarawak, Tun Pehin Sri Dr. Haji Wan Junaidi bin Tuanku Jaafar, together with his wife Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah binti Mohd Sanusi, continued their Aidilfitri pilgrimage on 27 March with a visit to the residence of YB Datuk Dr. Ripin bin Lamat, Deputy Minister of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development Sarawak (Entrepreneur Development), at Jalan Sakura, Miri.
The Governor was accompanied by his daughter Sharifah Nong-Jasima, her husband Muhammad Nur Hakeem Yusop, and their child Tasneem.
The visit formed part of a series of festive engagements in Miri, aimed at strengthening ties with community leaders and residents.
The arrival of the Governor and his wife was joined by several senior state figures. Among them were Dato Sri Haji Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, Minister of Tourism, Creative Industries and Performing Arts Sarawak and Minister of the Interior, with his wife Datin Sri Hajah Zuraini binti Abdul Jaabar; Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin, Minister of Transport Sarawak, with his wife Datin Kong Shui Lin.
The hosts, Datuk Dr. Ripin Lamat and his family, extended a warm welcome to the distinguished guests. The gathering was further enlivened by the presence of Adam Yii Siew Sang, Mayor of Miri City Council, and Tuan Haji Ariffin bin Mohamad, Deputy Mayor of Miri City Council.
The event was held in a festive and cordial atmosphere, reflecting the spirit of Aidilfitri as a time for unity and togetherness.
Guests exchanged greetings and shared conversations, highlighting the cultural importance of family and community bonds during the celebration.
In his remarks, Tun Pehin Sri Wan Junaidi expressed appreciation for the hospitality shown by the hosts. He emphasised that Aidilfitri is a meaningful occasion to strengthen values of unity, mutual respect, and family spirit among Sarawak’s multi-racial community.
The Governor and his wife reaffirmed their gratitude for the opportunity to socialise with leaders and residents in Miri, noting that such gatherings play a vital role in fostering harmony and inclusivity across the state.
The visit underscored the Governor’s commitment to engaging directly with communities, reinforcing the cultural and social significance of Aidilfitri in Sarawak.
The evening concluded with a shared hope that the bonds of friendship and family will continue to flourish in an atmosphere of peace and goodwill.
