RM4 Million Upgrade to Revitalise Bintangor Recreational Park

MERADONG – The RM4 million upgrading project at Bintangor Recreational Park is progressing steadily, with improvements aimed at enhancing community wellbeing and boosting the town’s appeal as a visitor destination.

The initiative, implemented under the Rajang Delta Development Agency (RADDA), is expected to deliver safer, more comfortable, and family-friendly facilities for residents and tourists alike.

During a recent site visit, Meradong Assemblyman Datuk Ding Kuong Hiing reviewed the progress of the works, marking his second inspection since the project site handover on 5 January.

Among the key upgrades already underway are improvements to public toilet facilities, designed to provide greater comfort for visitors.

The park’s main road circuit is also being resurfaced to ensure safety for recreational activities such as jogging and walking. These enhancements are part of a broader plan to make the park more accessible and user-friendly.

One of the most anticipated features is the construction of the Red Bridge, which is expected to become a landmark attraction within the park.

Alongside this, a central stage is being built to host community events, cultural programmes, and social gatherings, reinforcing the park’s role as a hub for local activities.

A new children’s playground is also being developed, offering families more opportunities for outdoor recreation.

Datuk Ding highlighted that the project contributes to the overall beautification of Bintangor town, with the potential to attract more visitors and stimulate local economic activity.

He expressed confidence that the upgraded facilities will encourage greater community engagement and foster a healthier lifestyle among residents.

The assemblyman also urged contractors and stakeholders to maintain high standards of workmanship and ensure timely completion of the project.

He stressed that the success of the initiative depends on collaboration and commitment from all parties involved.

The Bintangor Recreational Park upgrade reflects Sarawak’s broader efforts to improve rural infrastructure and create inclusive spaces for communities.

With its blend of modern facilities and cultural features, the park is set to become a focal point for recreation, tourism, and community pride in Meradong.
