Bukit Begunan Infrastructure Projects Strengthen Community Support

SRI AMAN – A series of infrastructure projects under the Coastal Aging Transformation Programme (RTP) have been launched in Bukit Begunan, aimed at improving facilities and supporting the needs of local communities, particularly the elderly.

The initiative was officiated by Datuk Mong Dagang, Bukit Begunan Assemblyman, during the Randau @ Begunan Programme.

The event also marked the construction of Indu’s Gerempung House and Mathew Ronnie’s House in Selepong Kunang.

Funding allocations under the RTP include RM150,000 for the Tinggom House to support cleaning and maintenance, RM100,000 for Tuai Rumah Mathew for a netting project, and RM50,000 for Robin Unggeng’s house for similar works.

These investments are part of a wider effort to strengthen community infrastructure and provide safer, more accessible facilities.

Additional funds were distributed under the Coastal Aging Restoration Project (MRP) to the JKKK Genturung Pendiau and Gerempung Indu, supporting community activities and supervisory arrangements.

Datuk Mong emphasised the importance of collaboration between local leaders, committees, and residents in ensuring the success of these projects.

He highlighted the role of Community Harvest Supervisors and KMKK (National Raban Harvest) as vital links between government and the people, ensuring that development initiatives are effectively implemented.

“It is important to continue working closely with the elderly, JKKK, and Gerempung Indu to strengthen community ties and improve infrastructure,” he said.

Among the notable developments is the construction project in Benung, overseen by the Sri Aman Development Agency (SADA).

The project has received positive feedback from users, particularly elderly residents, who benefit from improved access and safer facilities.

Datuk Mong reiterated that these infrastructure projects are not only about physical upgrades but also about fostering inclusivity and ensuring that rural communities remain connected and supported.

He expressed gratitude to contractors, agencies, and community members for their cooperation in advancing Bukit Begunan’s development agenda.

The initiatives reflect Sarawak’s broader commitment to rural transformation, ensuring that even remote areas benefit from modern infrastructure.

With continued collaboration, Bukit Begunan is expected to see long-term improvements in both social and economic development.
