Car Overturns on Jalan Bako, Two Women Hurt

KUCHING: Two women were left shaken after the car they were travelling in skidded and overturned in a road accident at Demak Industrial Park along Jalan Bako on Wednesday afternoon.

The incident, which occurred at about 2.31 pm, involved a Perodua Axia that reportedly lost control before ending up overturned on the shoulder of the road. The accident caused alarm among road users in the busy industrial area, although traffic flow was not severely affected.

According to a statement from the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department, an emergency call was received at 2.31 pm. A team from the Tabuan Jaya Fire and Rescue Station was immediately dispatched to the scene. The Emergency Operations Team, led by Syamsyul Mustapha, arrived approximately 11 minutes later.

Upon arrival, firefighters found that the vehicle had already overturned. The two female victims, aged 56 and 58, had been assisted out of the vehicle by members of the public before the rescue team reached the location. Their swift action helped ensure that the victims were brought to safety without delay.

Initial assessments revealed that both women suffered minor injuries. Although no serious external wounds were reported, the victims complained of chest pain following the accident. Medical personnel from the Ministry of Health later arrived at the scene and took over the case for further evaluation and treatment.

The authorities have not released further details on the exact cause of the accident. However, road users are reminded to remain cautious, especially in industrial areas where heavy vehicles and sudden traffic movements can increase the risk of accidents.
