Sarawak Upgrades Disaster Command Centre for Enhanced State Readiness

KUCHING – The State Disaster Command Centre (SDCC), located at Level 1 of Wisma Bapa Malaysia in Petra Jaya, has officially been handed over from the National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA) to the Sarawak State Disaster Management Committee (JPBN).

This transition marks a significant advancement in the state’s ability to coordinate emergency responses through a modern, integrated facility.

The handover ceremony was officiated by the Deputy Premier of Sarawak, YB Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, who serves as the Chairman of JPBN Sarawak.

Also in attendance were the Sarawak State Secretary, YB Datuk Amar Haji Mohamad Abu Bakar Bin Marzuki, the Director of Public Works Sarawak, Datu Adj. Prof. Ir. Ts. Gs. Br. PMr. Dr. Cassidy anak Morris, and various heads of key government departments.

The upgrade project transforms the existing operational space into a sophisticated command hub designed to streamline communication and data analysis.

By incorporating the latest technology, the centre is expected to facilitate faster decision-making and more systematic operations, particularly during environmental crises or emergency situations.

Among the prominent figures present was the Sarawak Police Commissioner, YDH CP Datuk Mohamad Zainal bin Haji Abdullah, accompanied by Supt. Samima binti Mustapha, the Deputy Head of the Internal Security and Public Order Department.

Their presence underscores the critical role of the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) as a strategic partner in public safety.
