KUCHING – The Sarawak Islamic Council (MIS) recently awarded certification to food and service operators in the state, acknowledging their commitment towards maintaining high hygiene and quality standards.

UDC Event 2026

The event, which took place on April 1, 2026, officially presented the Malaysian Halal Certificate to two of our top local outlets.

They started at 3:00 pm at Amity Events Sdn Bhd, which is located in the UNIFOR Complex on Jalan Ong Tiang Swee. Next, the delegation headed to Yucca Fusion on Jl. Depo as the second presentation for that day at 4:00 pm.

The President of the Sarawak Islamic Council, Yang Berbahagia Datuk Haji Misnu bin Haji Taha, presided over both ceremonies.

His presence also highlighted the state government’s continued support for businesses that uphold strict compliance with national halal standards.

The event’s main purpose was to recognise the commitment of these establishments in complying with the strict guidelines of the Malaysian Halal Certification.

But the event was more than just a boast, because as it turned out, this was part of a strategic move to spur a broader range of food industry operators throughout the state to seek official accreditation.

The foundation aims to incorporate halal as an integral part of everyday life for people. More and more consumers with a higher focus on hygiene and ethical food preparation are demanding this standard when dining out.

We have data up to October 2023 and are now engaged with the Sarawak Islamic Council for halal expansion all over Kuching, including beyond.

The council wants to build consumer confidence and support the integrity of the state’s food and beverage industry by creating a culture of transparency and quality in the food sector.

This is part of a larger initiative that ensures food service providers comply with national regulations, ensuring that the community receives access to compliant and certified dining options.

The government hopes that the increased number of operators would enhance its image as a government which promotes quality and safe food services in the state for all sections of society.
