STAPANG – The Civil Defence Force (APM) Selangau, in collaboration with several local agencies, carried out Operation Drought on Friday, 3 April 2026, to provide clean water assistance to residents affected by the dry season in the Nanga Tamin and Stapang areas.
The initiative was launched following reports that communities in these regions had been cut off from reliable water supplies due to prolonged drought conditions.
APM Selangau coordinated with the Selangau District Office, the Social Welfare Department (JKM) Selangau, and the Stapang Police to ensure smooth and controlled distribution of aid.
Water distribution was carried out efficiently, with teams working together to deliver supplies directly to affected households.
The operation aimed to ease the burden on residents who have been struggling with limited access to clean water, a resource essential for daily living and public health.
Local authorities emphasised that such collaborative efforts are crucial in mitigating the impact of seasonal droughts, particularly in rural areas where infrastructure challenges can make access to clean water more difficult.
The involvement of multiple agencies ensured that the operation was well-organised and reached those most in need.
Community members expressed gratitude for the timely intervention, noting that the aid provided immediate relief during a period of hardship.
The operation also highlighted the importance of preparedness and inter-agency cooperation in responding to environmental challenges.
APM Selangau reaffirmed its commitment to continue supporting local communities through emergency response and aid distribution.
Officials stressed that maintaining strong partnerships with district offices, welfare agencies and law enforcement is key to ensuring effective delivery of assistance during crises.
As drought conditions persist in parts of Sarawak, authorities are monitoring the situation closely and stand ready to implement further measures to safeguard residents.
The success of Operation Drought demonstrates the resilience of local communities and the dedication of emergency services in protecting public welfare.
