Pasar Serikin: Bau police carried out an Integrated Crime Prevention Operation at Pasar Serikin along the Indonesian border route on Saturday, April 5, 2026, as part of ongoing efforts to maintain public safety and order in the district.
The operation, led by the Bau District Police Headquarters, better known as IPD Bau, was conducted from 10.00 am to 12.00 noon in the busy public area that attracts both local visitors and cross-border traders. The team involved one senior police officer and five junior police officers who were deployed to monitor the situation and carry out inspections.
During the two-hour operation, a total of 10 vehicles were inspected, comprising two motor cars and eight motorcycles. Police also checked 15 individuals, including 12 men and three women. According to the official report, no arrests were made throughout the operation.
However, enforcement action was taken against several traffic offenders. Four traffic summonses were issued for various offences. These included the use of noisy exhaust systems, motorcycles without side mirrors, and registration numbers that did not comply with regulations. Police reminded vehicle owners that such violations not only break the law but can also pose risks to road users and disturb public peace.
Pasar Serikin is a well-known weekend market located near the Malaysia-Indonesia border, drawing large crowds especially during peak hours. The visible presence of police officers in the area served as a preventive measure against potential criminal activities and traffic-related offences.
The operation proceeded smoothly without any unwanted incidents. Police described the atmosphere as orderly, with members of the public cooperating during inspections. The initiative is part of a broader strategy by the Royal Malaysia Police to strengthen crime prevention efforts in key public locations, particularly border areas that experience high movement of people and goods.
IPD Bau emphasised that similar integrated operations will continue from time to time. The objective is clear: to ensure that public safety is preserved and that the community remains confident in the authorities’ commitment to law enforcement.
The police have also advised the public to comply with traffic regulations and to report any suspicious activities. Consistent enforcement and community cooperation remain essential pillars in safeguarding peace and security in Bau and its surrounding areas.
