TANJUNG MANIS – The Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) Tanjung Manis District successfully removed a beehive from the Tanjung Manis Integrated Port area on Monday, following reports from members of the public.
The incident occurred on 6 April when residents alerted authorities to the presence of a hive on a tree located directly in front of an office building within the port compound. Concerned about the potential risk to workers and visitors, APM deployed four personnel to the site.
Upon arrival, the team confirmed the presence of the hive and immediately initiated safe removal procedures. Using a controlled burning method, the nest was destroyed without incident.
Officials stressed that the technique was carried out with safety precautions to minimise risks to both the public and the environment.
Beehives in populated or industrial areas can pose hazards, particularly when large numbers of bees gather near workplaces or public facilities.
While bees play a vital role in pollination and ecological balance, their presence in busy areas often requires intervention to prevent accidents or stings.
The operation was completed efficiently, and the area was declared safe for continued use. No injuries were reported during the removal process.
Authorities have reminded the public to remain cautious when encountering beehives or swarms in residential or commercial zones.
Residents are encouraged to contact local emergency services rather than attempting to remove nests themselves, as improper handling can lead to dangerous situations.
Community leaders welcomed the swift response, noting that the removal ensured the safety of workers and visitors at the port.
The incident highlights the importance of public cooperation in reporting potential hazards and the readiness of APM teams to respond to diverse emergencies.
The successful operation at Tanjung Manis Integrated Port reflects ongoing efforts by local authorities to safeguard communities from environmental and safety risks, ensuring that daily activities can continue without disruption.
