MIRI – A Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration hosted at SUPP Pujut on 12 April 2026 brought together a diverse community, reflecting Sarawak’s enduring strength in unity and mutual respect.
The event, which began at 7.30pm, was attended by people from various backgrounds, highlighting the state’s multicultural harmony.
Assemblyman for N74 Pujut and Mayor of Miri City Council, Adam Yii, addressed the gathering by emphasising the deeper meaning of Hari Raya.
He noted that beyond being a festive occasion, the celebration serves as a reminder of gratitude, repentance, and unity.
He stressed that Sarawak’s most valuable asset today is not its natural resources, but the social harmony that has been nurtured and maintained across communities.
Adam Yii underscored the importance of stability as the foundation of national development. He explained that only through stability can the government continue to improve facilities, raise living standards, and provide more effective support to the people.
His remarks resonated with the audience, reinforcing the link between peace, progress, and prosperity.
The Assemblyman also touched on the ongoing struggle for Sarawak’s rights under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63).
He reminded attendees that the effort to safeguard Sarawak’s autonomy is not new, but a long-standing commitment to ensuring equal partnership within Malaysia
He stressed that preserving these rights is vital for the future of Sarawak’s people and generations to come.
The event’s atmosphere reflected the unity that Adam Yii called for, with participants sharing food, laughter, and fellowship in a spirit of inclusivity.
He urged the community to continue rejecting division and to work together for a stronger and more prosperous Sarawak.
