KUCHING – The Sarawak Marine Fisheries Department gathered its staff and community members for a Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration, emphasising togetherness and gratitude. The event, held in a modest yet meaningful manner, reflected the department’s commitment to fostering unity among its citizens.
In his address, the department’s representative expressed appreciation for the spirit of fraternity displayed during the occasion. He noted that the celebration was not defined by grandeur but by the bonds of friendship and solidarity that brought people together.
“Although this year’s celebration was celebrated in a simple manner, I was very pleased to see the presence and spirit of togetherness shown by all JPLS citizens. This is what makes our celebration more meaningful, not because of the excitement, but because of the fraternity and friendship that is formed,” he said.
The gathering highlighted the cultural and spiritual significance of Aidilfitri, a festival that marks the end of Ramadan and encourages forgiveness, compassion, and renewed relationships.
The department extended warm wishes to all attendees, offering apologies and blessings in line with the tradition of seeking reconciliation during the festive season.
“Happy Hari Raya Aidilfitri; sorry outwardly and inwardly to all JPLS citizens. May this Aidilfitri bring blessings, happiness and strengthened friendships,” the message continued.
The event underscored the importance of maintaining harmony within the workplace and the wider community. By celebrating together, the department reinforced values of inclusivity and mutual respect, which are central to Sarawak’s diverse society.
Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations across Sarawak often reflect a blend of cultural practices and shared values, with gatherings serving as opportunities to strengthen ties among colleagues, neighbours, and families.
The Marine Fisheries Department’s observance of the festival demonstrated how even simple celebrations can carry profound meaning when centred on unity and gratitude.
As Sarawak continues to embrace its multicultural identity, events such as these highlight the role of institutions in promoting social cohesion.
The department’s celebration was a reminder that Aidilfitri is not only a religious occasion but also a moment to reaffirm collective bonds and shared aspirations.
