KUCHING – The Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) has intensified efforts to remove illegal advertisements across its administrative area, reinforcing its commitment to maintaining a clean, safe and orderly environment for the public.
The enforcement team recently carried out operations targeting posters, stickers, banners and buntings that had been installed without approval.
These materials were found on lamp posts, street signs, trees, building walls and other public facilities. Officials noted that such unauthorised advertisements not only undermine the city’s appearance but can also pose risks to road users and pedestrians.
Among the advertisements taken down were unlicensed money lending promotions, as well as business and service advertisements that had not received the necessary permits from the Council.
The crackdown is part of a continuous programme to ensure that public spaces remain free from clutter and hazards.
MPP explained that the enforcement team conducts regular patrols and responds to public complaints to identify and remove illegal advertising materials.
The Council emphasised that these actions will be sustained and strengthened over time to preserve the integrity of the city’s environment.
The initiative reflects broader efforts by local authorities in Sarawak to uphold urban standards and protect community well-being.
