PAKAN – A large beehive, roughly the size of a football, was successfully destroyed by members of the Civil Defence Force in Pakan on Wednesday.
The operation, carried out by the Charlie Squad of the APM Pakan District, was initiated following a complaint from a resident concerned about the hive’s proximity to their property.
Officials confirmed that controlled burning techniques were used to eliminate the nest, ensuring both the safety of the complainant and the surrounding environment.
Personnel involved in the mission were equipped with full personal protective gear to minimise risks during the procedure.
The team emphasised that strict safety protocols were followed throughout the operation, which concluded without incident.
Beehives of this size can pose significant danger to residents, particularly when located near homes or public areas. Experts note that bees may become aggressive if disturbed, leading to potential stings and allergic reactions.
The Civil Defence Force highlighted that professional intervention is essential in such cases, as improper handling can escalate risks.
Local authorities have reminded the public not to attempt removing nests on their own. Instead, residents are encouraged to report sightings to relevant agencies so that trained personnel can respond promptly.
The use of controlled burning, combined with protective equipment, remains one of the most effective methods for safely neutralising large hives.
Community members in Pakan expressed gratitude for the swift response, praising the professionalism of the Charlie Squad.
The incident underscores the importance of vigilance and cooperation between residents and emergency services in addressing wildlife-related hazards.
The Civil Defence Force reiterated its commitment to safeguarding public safety, operating under the principle of readiness, speed, and integrity.
