MIRI – The residents of Kampung Piasau Utara came together on the evening of 17 April for a community gathering at Balai Raya Piasau Utara, where warmth and unity filled the atmosphere.
The event, held at 8.20pm, was marked by shared meals, conversations, and a collective spirit of harmony.
In his address, Miri City Council (MCC) Mayor YB Adam Yii highlighted the progress achieved in recent years through community-driven projects.
Among the initiatives completed were the upgrading and expansion of the local mosque, improvements to the balai raya, installation of lighting in the field area, construction of a futsal court, and enhancements to the drainage system.
These projects, he noted, were the result of trust and cooperation between the people and the government.
Looking ahead, further developments are already planned. Street light upgrades have been approved, while drainage improvements in Piasau Utara 3 are scheduled to begin soon.
These projects are expected to enhance safety, convenience, and overall quality of life for residents.
Mayor Yii emphasised that such achievements were not the work of individuals alone but the outcome of collective effort and the mandate given by the community.
He also pointed to broader initiatives introduced under the Sarawak Government, including increased SKAS assistance and a 25 percent discount on electricity bills, which have provided tangible benefits to households across the state.
The gathering served as a reminder of the importance of maintaining harmony and stability within the community.
By coming together in fellowship, residents reinforced the values of unity and mutual support that underpin local development.
Mayor Yii encouraged the people of Piasau Utara to continue fostering solidarity and to work hand in hand for a brighter future.
