SIBU – A new building block has been officially handed over to Sekolah Kebangsaan Kampung Bahagia Jaya Teku, marking another step in the government’s ongoing programme to upgrade dilapidated schools across Sarawak.
The project, which was successfully completed, provides six modern classrooms alongside improved facilities for both teachers and pupils.
The new block includes upgraded toilets, more systematic learning spaces, and essential amenities designed to create a safer and more conducive environment for education.
The handover ceremony was officiated by Nangka Assemblyman, YB Datuk Dr Annuar Bin Rapaee, and received by the school’s headmaster.
The event was attended by Sibu Division Public Works Engineer Ir. Ts. Gs. Br. PMr. Chieng Siong Ming, technical officers, contractor representatives, and school staff.
In a speech during the ceremony, the school expressed deep appreciation to all parties involved in the project.
With the completion of the new block, students are expected to benefit from a more comfortable and cheerful learning atmosphere, while teachers will have access to improved facilities that support effective teaching.
The initiative forms part of Sarawak’s wider commitment to addressing the issue of dilapidated schools, particularly in rural and semi-urban areas.
By investing in infrastructure, the government aims to ensure that every student has access to quality educational facilities, regardless of location.
Education officials have highlighted that such projects are crucial in bridging the gap between urban and rural schools.
The provision of modern classrooms and facilities not only enhances learning outcomes but also contributes to the overall well-being of students and staff.
The completion of the Kampung Bahagia Jaya Teku school block reflects the state’s determination to provide equitable opportunities for all children.
It also demonstrates the collaborative effort between government agencies, contractors, and local communities in realising long-term improvements in education infrastructure.
As more projects of this nature are rolled out, Sarawak continues to strengthen its education system, ensuring that no student is left behind in the pursuit of a safe, supportive, and high-quality learning environment.
