A Tragic Afternoon on Jalan Sri Aman-Betong

SRI AMAN: A somber afternoon turned tragic as a two-vehicle collision unfolded along Jalan Sri Aman-Betong on June 3, claiming the life of a local man and leaving three others injured.

The accident occurred around 2:15 pm and involved a Toyota Fortuner carrying four individuals and a Perodua Myvi driven by an elderly woman.

Efforts to Save Lives

Responding swiftly to the distress call, firefighters from the Sri Aman station rushed to the scene. Upon arrival, they were met with a grim sight—the Fortuner had overturned. Immediate extrication works commenced to free the trapped driver.

Despite the valiant efforts of emergency responders, the victim, identified as Jee Choon Vui, aged 47, succumbed to his injuries. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene before transporting his body to the hospital for post-mortem procedures.

Miraculous Rescues Amidst Tragedy

Amidst the chaos, acts of heroism emerged as members of the public rushed to aid the three other victims trapped in the Fortuner—a 46-year-old woman, a 16-year-old girl, and a 12-year-old boy. Thankfully, they sustained only light injuries and were swiftly transported to the hospital for further medical attention.

A Fortunate Escape

In stark contrast, the 66-year-old driver of the Myvi emerged unscathed from the collision, a testament to the unpredictability of such incidents.

Conclusion

The operation, marked by heroism and tragedy, came to a close at 4:30 pm, once the accident debris was cleared. As investigations continue into the circumstances surrounding the collision, the community mourns the loss of Jee Choon Vui while offering support to those injured in the ordeal.
