MIRI – The Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg, joined the local congregation for Friday prayers at At-Taqwa Mosque in Miri Division on 24 April 2026.
The premier arrived in Miri at approximately 11.15 am, travelling from Kuching as part of his working visit to the northern city.
His trip coincides with preparations for the Opening Ceremony of the Sarawakku Sayang Miri Division, scheduled to take place at Miri Stadium on 25 April.
The prayer service was attended by community members and mosque officials, who welcomed the premier warmly.
Following the prayers, he took time to meet worshippers, exchanging greetings and offering words of encouragement.
His presence was seen as a gesture of solidarity with the local community, reinforcing ties between state leadership and citizens.
Later in the day, the premier is expected to attend the Loyal Service Medal Presentation Ceremony for the Miri Division.
The event will be held at a leading hotel in the city, recognising individuals for their dedication and contributions to public service.
The Premier was accompanied by several state leaders, including Datuk Dr Haji Abdul Rahman bin Haji Junaidi, Dato Fazzrudin bin Abdul Rahman, Datuk Haji Ibrahim bin Haji Baki, and Datuk Amar Haji Mohamad Abu Bakar bin Marzuki.
Their presence highlighted the importance of collective leadership and support for community initiatives in Miri.
At-Taqwa Mosque, one of Miri’s most prominent religious centres, regularly hosts large congregations for Friday prayers.
