AMPANG – The Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg, who also serves as President of the Malaysian Islamic Welfare Organisation (PERKIM), attended a dinner in conjunction with the opening of the 46th National PERKIM Women’s Annual General Meeting on Friday evening. The event was held at Boathouse by the Lake, Ampang.
The Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor, Her Royal Highness Tengku Permaisuri Hajah Norashikin, graced the occasion alongside senior PERKIM leaders and members.
The gathering brought together representatives from across the country, with approximately 200 members attending to mark the start of the annual meeting.
During the ceremony, the Sarawak Premier, in his capacity as PERKIM President, received donations totalling RM60,000 from seven organisations and companies.
The contributions were presented in support of PERKIM’s ongoing initiatives. Among the donors were PERKIM Selangor, represented by Chairman Muhammad Fitri Abdullah, who contributed RM20,000, and Skop Production Sdn Bhd, which donated RM15,000.
Other contributors included Motiara Sdn Bhd, TKWMY Holiday Sdn Bhd, Nasi Dagang Atas Tol Sdn Bhd, Sanggul Event Management Sdn Bhd, and Gabungan Hartalega Sdn Bhd, each pledging RM5,000.
The donations were witnessed by the Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor, underscoring the significance of the event.
In addition, the National PERKIM Women presented a replica cheque worth RM35,000 to the PERKIM Islamic Propagation Institute (IDIP) in Kota Bharu, further supporting educational and religious outreach programmes.
The evening was enlivened with artistic performances and a photo session, adding a celebratory touch to the formal proceedings.
The event highlighted the collaborative spirit between PERKIM’s leadership, its members, and supporting organisations.
Also present was PERKIM Vice President Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim, who joined the premier and other dignitaries in acknowledging the contributions made towards strengthening PERKIM’s mission.
The dinner not only marked the beginning of the annual meeting but also reflected the organisation’s commitment to advancing Islamic welfare, education, and community development across Malaysia.
