KUALA LUMPUR – The Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC), together with the Sarawak Trade and Tourism Office Singapore (STATOS), participated in the OFFSEAS Conference 2026, held at Garden International School from 25 to 26 April.
The event, themed “Out There Together! Building Sustainable Programmes for All”, brought together educators, outdoor learning practitioners, and sustainability advocates from Malaysia and abroad.
SFC’s involvement followed an invitation from STATOS, which also extended participation to Borneo Adventure and Paradesa Borneo.
The conference provided a platform for exchanging ideas on how outdoor and environmental programmes can be developed to remain environmentally responsible, inclusive, and community-focused.
The sessions highlighted best practices in sustainability education, outdoor learning, and nature-based initiatives.
For SFC, the insights gained are expected to strengthen its conservation experience programmes across Sarawak’s national parks and nature reserves.
Officials noted that these programmes are central to promoting environmental awareness and encouraging responsible tourism.
Speakers at the conference emphasised the importance of collaboration between government agencies, private organisations, and educators in building sustainable frameworks.
Discussions also touched on the role of outdoor learning in fostering resilience, inclusivity, and long-term community engagement. By participating, SFC reinforced its commitment to aligning conservation with education and tourism.
The corporation continues to develop initiatives that balance ecological preservation with public access, ensuring that Sarawak’s biodiversity remains protected while communities benefit from sustainable tourism opportunities.
The OFFSEAS Conference 2026 served as a reminder of the growing importance of sustainability in outdoor education and tourism.
With Sarawak’s rich natural heritage, SFC’s active role in such international platforms highlights the state’s dedication to environmental stewardship and its vision of integrating conservation with community development.
