KUCHING – The Sarawak Public Works Department (JKR) has held its One Month Pledge Signing Session No. 4/2026 on 27 April at the Directorate Meeting Room, Wisma Saberkas.
The initiative is part of JKR’s ongoing efforts to strengthen project governance and ensure contractors commit to delivering results within the first month of implementation.
The pledge system is designed to improve accountability and efficiency in project delivery, reducing risks of delays and ensuring that development benefits reach the people of Sarawak in a timely manner.
By requiring contractors to make an early commitment, JKR aims to set clear expectations and strengthen monitoring mechanisms.
Among the projects included in this session are the following:
- Retender: Upgrade of electricity supply infrastructure with solar system installation at Nanga Health Clinic, Chemanong, Kapit.
- Construction of a block for Special Education Programme Integration (PPKI) and related facilities at Asyakirin National School.
- Proposed construction of a nursery at Kampung Lubok Tuan, Medamit, Limbang.
- Construction of staff quarters to replace existing facilities at the Limbang Broadcast Department.
- Retender: Construction of a new land border security control post for the Sarawak Brigade of the General Reaction Forces (PGA) in Stass, Bau.
JKR Sarawak has pledged to closely monitor the progress of these projects, ensuring that contractors adhere to the agreed timelines and standards.
The department emphasised that the One Month Pledge reflects its commitment to improving project governance, enhancing efficiency, and supporting sustainable development.
This initiative also aligns with Sarawak’s Post COVID-19 Development Strategy 2030 (PCDS 2030), which prioritises effective project delivery and long-term sustainability.
By reinforcing governance practices, JKR aims to ensure that infrastructure projects contribute meaningfully to the state’s economic and social growth.
The One Month Pledge has become a key mechanism for instilling discipline among contractors and strengthening collaboration between government agencies and industry players.
It demonstrates Sarawak’s determination to uphold transparency, accountability, and quality in infrastructure development.
