KUCHING – The Sarawak Public Works Department (JKR) has reaffirmed its commitment to integrity and good governance through the results of the 2025 Integrity Level Assessment, which recognised outstanding performance across its branches and divisional offices.
The awards were presented by the Director of Public Works during the Governance Committee (JTK) Session No. 1/2026, held as part of the department’s ongoing efforts to prioritise transparency, accountability, and anti-corruption practices. The recognition highlights JKR’s determination to embed integrity as a core value in its operations.
At the headquarters branch level, the Material Surveying Branch secured first place for excellence in integrity, anti-corruption, and governance.
The Building and Structural Engineering Branch followed in second place, while the Highway Development Branch took third.
These achievements reflect the strong commitment of technical divisions to uphold ethical standards in project delivery.
In the divisional office category, the Limbang Divisional Office emerged as the top performer, with the Mukah and Sibu Divisional Offices taking second and third places, respectively.
Their success demonstrates the importance of integrity in regional operations, ensuring that governance practices are consistently applied across Sarawak.
The Best Integrity Corner Award for 2025 also went to the Material Surveying Branch, further cementing its reputation for excellence.
The Limbang and Mukah Divisional Offices were recognised in second and third place, underscoring their dedication to cultivating a culture of integrity within their teams.
The Director of Public Works emphasised that these recognitions are not merely symbolic but serve as a reminder of the department’s responsibility to deliver services that are efficient, transparent, and accountable. He noted that integrity is the foundation of public trust and a key driver of excellence in governance.
The Integrity Level Assessment forms part of JKR Sarawak’s broader strategy to strengthen governance and align with state development goals.
By rewarding branches and offices that demonstrate strong ethical practices, the department aims to inspire continuous improvement and set benchmarks for others to follow.
This initiative also supports Sarawak’s Post COVID-19 Development Strategy 2030 (PCDS 2030), which places integrity and governance at the heart of sustainable development.
JKR Sarawak has pledged to continue fostering a culture of accountability, ensuring that infrastructure projects and public services are delivered with fairness and transparency.
The recognition of integrity excellence in 2025 stands as proof of the collective determination of JKR Sarawak employees to uphold values that safeguard the interests of the people and strengthen confidence in public institutions.
