He stressed that Malaysia fully supports ASEAN’s collective efforts to enhance existing mechanisms, expand expertise sharing, and coordinate responses to disruptions caused by geopolitical uncertainty.

“Close and integrated cooperation between member countries is the key to ASEAN’s energy security,” he emphasised.

The Deputy Prime Minister also highlighted the importance of aligning national strategies with regional aspirations, particularly through the ASEAN Power Grid (APG) initiative agreed upon last year.

The APG aims to create a more interconnected and resilient energy network across Southeast Asia, reducing reliance on external sources and mitigating risks from global instability.

Fadillah underscored that while Malaysia remains open to international cooperation, every step must be guided by a model rooted in national values and sovereignty.

He noted that inclusivity and balance are essential to ensure that energy transformation benefits all layers of society, bridging gaps between urban and rural communities.
